Hi all, well it finely stopped rain in Jersey only to blow a gale!! Evil or Very Mad Still I did get a few shots (bad shots) and was hoping for some confirmation on two and a ID on one, which might not even be a hover!

I'm sure you're right. A male because of the bronze abdomen; as you will know, females have a much greener abdomen.

Definitely Sphaerophoria scripta. The wings are clearly shorter than the abdomen and, as far as I know, that feature is diagnostic for the species. The markings look right too although for Sphaerophoria spp the markings aren't really very helpful. A male of course; not only are the eyes holoptic but the genitalia are quite prominent. I've just started to take this sp in the south midlands.
