On 18 April while visiting Ruislip Woods NNR in Middlesex a Bumblebee-mimic Hoverfly settled and I thought it had the shape of Merodon equestris. I failed to catch it but got a photograph and Roger Morris kindly confirmed it from the picture and suggested that it may be worth mentioning this as an early record.
