At last we are there - the book is now at the printers and we simply have to wait for its arrival in a container sometime in March.

I had it on pre-order with Amazon and they emailed to cancel the order today saying it was no longer available.

Will it come back to Amazon in March or should I buy direct from the publishers?

Hi, I've just received this from Amazon,

Stuart Ball, Roger Morris "Britain's Hoverflies: An Introduction to the Hoverflies of Britain (Britain's Wildlife)"

Our supplier has informed us that this item is no longer available. This item has now been cancelled from your order # and we can confirm that you have not been charged for it.

Does this mean the book has been cancelled? I hope not I've been looking forward to seeing this.

Hi

I have been investigating this. The book is still progressing and it is not quite clear why Amazon have listed it as they have. It seems likely that because there have been delays they have a feedback loop that causes cancellation at some stage.

Rest assured, the book is going to happen and will be out some time in March - probably late March.

Regards

Roger

Hi and thanks for the information. I see Amazon are now saying that you can sign up to be notified when this becomes available.
I am attending one of your courses in Carlisle on the 2nd and 3rd of February. Do you have any suggested reading I could do online in the meantime please?

Regards,
Bill O'Brien

Hi Bill

We base our course around Stubbs & Falk which has proper keys. If you want to do hovers then our book will help understand parts of the keys in Stubbs & Falk.

However, we will be bringing some copies with us so there is no need to worry.

Regards

Roger

I have been doing some scouting around to see where else this could be ordered from when its available and I thought a couple of links might help:

From the WildGuides publishers website (at least this one gives the ISBN number in case anyone wants to order from a good old fashioned book shop lol):
http://press.princeton.edu/titles/9849.html

Also, Subbuteo Natural History Books have it listed but they dont have a note saying due in March (their catalogue does though):
http://www.wildlifebooks.com/product_details.php?area_id=1&nav_id=6&prd_id=9520

Looking forward to it Roger.

We have heard from WildGuides that the books are currently in transit (by boat from the printers in Singapore) and are due to be delivered to their warehouse on 5th March. Presumably, they will be on sale shortly afterwards. They have received a couple of advanced copies by airmail and forwarded one to Roger and myself - so we now have the finished book in our hands for the first time!

It looks very nice. The printers have done an excellent job in terms of quality and colour reproduction.
