Hi,

I have a specimen from my garden in Buckinghamshire that seems to key out to Eupeodes species C (it's a female). Has there been any more information on the status and distribution of species C since Stubbs and Falk 2002?

Will pass on the specimen next time I'm within reach of an expert for confirmation or otherwise!

Martin

Hi Martin

Work in the Czeck Republic suggests that species C is actually a temperature-related morph of E. luniger. Likewise, the split in E. bucculatus is also a temperature-related phenomenon.

Thanks Roger. Presumably this means I can record it as E. luniger, perhaps adding a comment to the effect that it is "of the form referred to as species C" or something along those lines?

Hi Martin

Yes record it as E. luniger - but worth noting the colour form

Regards

Roger
